SUMMARY:Centering Prayer - Orientation and Intention (Online)
DESCRIPTION:Location: Join Zoom\nOR from Zoom App\, Meeting ID: 595 177 454\nOR phone-in: (646) 876-9923\n\nPASSWORD: Email Maddy Elledge to request.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCentering Prayer is a receptive method of Christian silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer\, prayer in which we experience God’s presence within us\, closer than breathing\, closer than thinking\, closer than consciousness itself. Learn more about Centering Prayer or learn on your own at Contemplativeoutreach.org.\n\n\n“Contemplative practices facilitate and deepen our relationship with God.” This tutorial will offer a “beginner’s” approach to the prayer practice. “The more we practice and allow the transformation process to happen\, the more we are able to experience the Indwelling Presence in everything we do.” \n\nInquiries\, questions to be addressed in the tutorial? Please send them in advance to Fr. John Jenkins.

SUMMARY:Becoming Beloved Community… Where You Are
DESCRIPTION:BECOMING BELOVED COMMUNITY … WHERE YOU ARE\n\nMinistry of Racial Healing & Reconciliation \nNext Meeting: Tuesday\, September 29\, Noon – 1 p.m. \nJoin Zoom \n\nOR from Zoom App\, Meeting ID: 845 5492 0571\nOR phone-in: (646) 876-9923\nPASSWORD: Email Maddy Elledge to request.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy racial healing? Why now? Why us? The answer is found in our baptismal identity\, most fully articulate in ourBaptismal Covenant (BCP 304-5).\n\nWe are collaboratively shaping this ministry and welcome your participation. This group gathers to lend mutual support and guidance\, to connect around common passions and interests\, and to discern the path that leads to racial healing and justice where we are. Drawing guidance from The Episcopal Church’s Becoming Beloved Community framework\, we strive to discern individually and collectively how to 1) tell the truth about race and our church\, 2) proclaim the dream\, 3) practice the way of Love in the pattern of Jesus\, and 4) repair the breach in our institutions and society. \nEmail Fr. Jenkins for more information.

The more we practice and allow the transformation process to happen\, the more we are able to experience the Indwelling Presence in everything we do. These practices are drawn from Rev. Martin Smith’s classic guide The Word is Very Near You: Praying with Scripture\, and Rowan Williams’ The Indwelling of the Light. \nFollowing the tutorial and meditation\, we will join the parish for the liturgy of Compline on the same zoom meeting at 8 p.m. \n\n“Contemplative practices facilitate and deepen our relationship with God.”\n\n\nInquiries\, questions to be addressed in the tutorial? SUMMARY:Back to School Blessing
DESCRIPTION:Back to School – Prayers & Blessing for our entire parish community\nSunday\, August 30\n\n\nWe all are aware that schooling this year is different\, that we are at the beginning of a new phase of our common life in the midst of the pandemic. This truth touches the lives all students from pre-K to graduate studies\, all teachers and instructors\, and all staff and administrators.\n\nThey need our support\, and we need ways to express our hopes and concerns for them at this time. In order to draw those we love into the powerful ministry of Christian prayer\, the Saint Paul’s community is invited to submit the names (first names only\, not read aloud in the Prayers of the People) of all persons—students and their friends\, teachers and their colleagues\, staff and administrators—for whom we desire God’s intercession and blessing.\n\nAll names submitted will be carried in a basket and placed upon the altar during the entrance procession. They will be offered to God with the Eucharistic elements and the week’s monetary offerings. Following the post-communion prayer\, we will bid God’s blessing upon them and our whole community.\n\nClick on this button below to offer as many names (first name only) as you wish.\n\n\n\n\nFOR FAMILIES with CHILDREN\, and for TEACHERS & EDUCATORS\n\nFamilies of school aged children and educators are invited to gather this Sunday online at 10:00 for a back to school prayer and blessing.\n\n\n\nBring the backpack tag or bookmark you received this weekend from the church plus any other gear you wish to have blessed–backpacks\, etc.–as special signs of God’s loving presence. Before our blessing\, we will name the things that we are excited about as we return to school as well as the things that we are nervous about. In prayer\, we will offer all of this into God’s care and keeping.\n\nThe letter enclosed with the tags and bookmarks included the Zoom meeting instructions and password\, but contact Maddy Elledge should you need access. The back of that letter included an at-home “Back to School” liturgy for you in case you cannot join us this Sunday.\n\n\n\nJoin Zoom \nOR from Zoom App\, Meeting ID: 366 090 592\nPASSWORD: Email Maddy Elledge to request.\n\n\nInquiries\, contact Fr. Jenkins.

Yet\, how do we learn and grow in the living steam of our prayer tradition?Praying Together offers informal and practical tutorials about prayer and our prayer tradition so that anyone may learn and grow in God’s grace through the prayers of our Church. Topics vary\, and Fr. Jenkins invites your suggestions.
