Acolytes
The acolytes of Saint Paul’s serve a very important liturgical purpose. We help guide the service from the opening of the service through procession, preparation of the Holy Altar at the Holy Eucharist, assisting the clergy in their duties, and the closing of the service through procession. Our children and youth serve with dignity and reverence, knowing their service is to God and His church.
The Acolytes are a group of children and youth beginning at age eight and continue to serve until grade twelve. Acolytes begin their service as torchbearers and progress through to servers as they gain experience and confidence. Our acolytes serve on teams led by a senior acolyte who acts as mentor and trainer. This allows for those senior acolytes to assist in nurturing the younger children and instil confidence in their abilities. We hold regular training throughout the year to work on proper methods of service, working together as a team, and to enjoy fellowship with one another.
