IRONMAN WEEKEND SEPTEMBER 24-25, 2022

Mark your calendar for the Augusta Ironman 70.3 weekend
on Saturday, September 24th and on race day, Sunday, September 25th.

There are many opportunities for parish members to get involved
on these days and with prep work on Friday, September 23rd.

Race Volunteers

Saint Paul’s/TriAugusta Pasta Dinner

Volunteer at the Saint Paul’s/TriAugusta Pasta Dinner
Saturday, September 24, 5:30 – 8 PM in the River Room
Food prep Friday, 12-4 PM & several shifts on Saturday, 2-8 PM

We will welcome athletes and their families for a delicious home-cooked pasta dinner and provide them with the opportunity to fellowship with each other and our parish on the eve of the race. Volunteers are needed to assist with food preparation, cooking, and transferring food to the dining area. Baking Team

Volunteer to bake
Deliver to the River Room prior to Saturday, September 24th 4:00 PM

River Room Decorating and Set Up

Volunteer to help set up and decorate the River Room
Saturday, September 24th, 10:30 AM

Volunteer to help set up the River Room and decorate a festive space to welcome our Ironman guests, Saturday, September 28th. For more information about getting involved as a set up volunteer, please contact Kim Butler.

Race Day River Room Hospitality

Volunteer to serve on the Hospitality Team on Ironman Sunday
Sunday, September 25th, 5 AM until 11 AM

Volunteer with River Room Hospitality on Sunday, September 25th. Our doors will open at 5:30 AM and be open throughout the morning to provide athletes a comfortable place to relax before the start of their race and a space for families and spectators who are waiting on their athletes. Complimentary coffee, water, and light refreshments will be served. Volunteers are needed to help serve refreshments and to welcome our guests and demonstrate our Saint Paul’s hospitality. Ironman Cheer Station

Cheer on athletes outside our gates on Race Morning
Sunday, September 25th, 11 AM – 4 PM

Join us at the front gates of Saint Paul’s to cheer on the runners completing the last leg of the race course. Our church is located at the halfway mark of the run and our athletes need us to help cheer them towards the finish line! We will have cow bells, festive wear, and light refreshments for the volunteers and music, cheering, ice, and popsicles for the runners. It is a fun-filled afternoon so make sure you join us for lots of cheering fun and inspiration. For more information about getting involved at the cheer station, please contact Kim Butler.

Swim Gear Drop

Volunteer at the Ironman Swim Gear Drop
Sunday, September 25th, 5 – 9 AM

Saint Paul’s Church volunteers with the Ironman to organize the Swim Gear Drop. This is an official volunteer position with Ironman so you need to sign-up on the Ironman page. Use the password SP2022. Please note, the gear drop volunteer option will only show up if use this password. The volunteers in this area will report to the swim start area (park in church lot and walk over to the swim start) at 5 AM and help receive the athlete’s gear bags as they head for the start of the race. It is a fun opportunity and each volunteer registered online will receive an official Ironman t-shirt.
