The Saint Paul’s Casavant Organ, built in 1966, is being re-leathered by Cornel Zimmer Organ Builders in Denver, NC. These are pictures of some of the newly re-leathered organ components. The original leather has been removed and the wood surfaces cleaned. New leather pouches are then each cut by hand and glued on to the wood. The organ is valued at $1.5 million and the leathering project is $75,000. The work is expected to be completed by the end of this month and the organ returned to service by mid-August!
